With 3,000 temples and stupas pink brick, Bagan is an extraordinary archaeological site near 50km² which is comparable to that of Angkor. It represents the pinnacle of Buddhist architecture Myanmar. Among the best known are the pagodas Ananda, Shwezgon, Dhammazedi, Sulamani, That Byin Nyu and Shwesandaw, known for observing the sunset.
