"The Northern Most Point of Thailand"

This border town faces Myanmar across the Mae Sai River, is located 62 km north of Chiangrai at the end of highway 110. Both Thai and foreign tourists come to see the sights and buy many goods from Myanmar, China and Thai. The strawberries achieve the status of a cult at the hight of the season, in mid February. They are on sale every where, not only in the town but also from stalls along the main road.

The massive scorpion sculpture at Wat Phra That Doi Wao in Mae Sai offers excellent vistas of Tachilek in Burma and a great starting point for a riverside journey to Chiang Saen and Chiang Khong.
